Director of Men's Program and Founder: Matt Schroeder

Coach Schroeder is originally from Phoenix, MD where he attended Loyola Blakefield High School.  Upon graduation in 2006, Matt attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, where he was a 4-year lacrosse starter.  Muhlenberg is part of the Centennial Conference, which is one of the top Division III conferences in the country.  As a player his senior year, he was named Honorable Mention All-Centennial Conference and was named the Arthur Taylor award winner for outstanding contribution and leadership by the coaching staff.  He was also a 2-year captain of the team in 2009 and 2010. 

Upon graduation in 2010, Matt attended Virginia Tech to pursue his graduate degrees in Food Science and Technology.  In 2012, he received his Master’s degree in Food Science with a specialty in Microbiology and immediately transitioned to his PhD, which he completed in December 2015, also at Virginia Tech. 

While at Virginia Tech, Matt was involved with the lacrosse team as the assistant coach from 2010-2013 and won an SELC conference championship in 2012.  In 2013, Matt was named head coach of the Hokies for the 2014 and 2015 seasons where the Hokies went 33-5, winning SELC championships both years.  During the 2015 season, the Hokies went to the MCLA National Semifinals, falling to the University of Colorado in OT, the furthest a Virginia Tech team had ever advanced.  Matt was named SELC Coach of the Year in 2015 as well as MCLA National Coach of the Year that same season

Working closely with the defense, Matt has coached 10 MCLA All-Americans, including a First Team All-American and SELC defensive player of the year in 2012.  Upon leaving Virginia Tech in 2016, Matt became the head coach of Briarcrest Christian School in Eads, TN.  Under his leadership. the Saints finished state runner-up in 2017 and 2018.  He was named the 2018 Varsity Division 2 Coach of the Year in Tennessee.  In 2019, Matt led the Saints to the first ever state championship, finishing with a record of 16-2.  He was also named TSLA Coach of the Year in Tennessee.  Matt has coached 22 all-conference selections, including the offensive and defensive player of the year in Tennessee in 2018 and 2019.  He also produced the first All-American from Briarcrest in 2018.

Matt is currently the program director of lacrosse and head coach at Regents School in Oxford and is the President of the newly formed Mississippi Scholastic Lacrosse Association (MSLA).
